Project 6: Final Project Our last project was our final project. I decided to throw clay on the wheel to make a bowl again. After I had my bowl I formed an owl head out of clay as lid for my little bowl. In addition to that, I added two others pieces of clay on both sides of my bowl for the wings. Even tho, I crosshatch method to connect the wings to the body, they cracked a little bit, but I hope that they won't fall of when they get fired. But during the first firing the body blew up, probably because it was too thick and couldn't stand the heat. The head is still one piece so I decided to clear glaze it.
Project 5: Throwing on the wheel Our last project before our independent project was to use the wheel and form a bowl, and a cylinder. I kind of like the technique and I'm glad I could try it out because I always wanted to try it. It wasn't easy to throw the clay on the wheel and form it to a cylinder and a bowl, but I was happy with my outcome. When I let my bowl try it got a little damaged so I cut light waves in the rim. Also, a part of the bottom of my cylinder broke while burning.
Project 4: Slap Project Our next project was to make a pod with the slap project, where we had to roll our clay out and cut out our walls and our bottom. I started to cut out 6 pieces of clay for my walls, but I ended up using only 4 of them. I attached them so they would create a little vase. I let it dry and after a while some of the walls started moving a little out of place so it got a little bit uneven. As pattern I added four different ones, on two sides I drew kind of curves and lines on it, and I painted the other ones with a kind of more sharp pattern with triangles.
Project 3: Coil Pod Our second project was to create a Pot or whatever we want with the coil technique. That means to form a coil and put them on another coil. We could either smooth the coils out or could leave them in their shape. When i formed my coils I made them flat so I could reach more height with one coil, so my pot would reach its recommended height of 8 inches. After I smoothed the coils out, I drew lines into my pod
Project 2: Pinch Pods Our first project in our ceramics were to make Pinch Pods. That means we had three pods in different sizes however we wanted it and had to connect them somehow so they would work well together as one. I decided to make one big Pod and two little ones, which I connected with my big one. As texture I decided to draw a flower around the whole pods.
Project 1: Stamps Our first project in ceramics class was to make our own stamps. In one I put my initials and on the other one I draw a random shape, that how I think turned out pretty good.
